I visited Cibo located on 1012 17 Ave SW for lunch the other day. On arrival I was greeted by the hostess and as you pass by the very open kitchen the main focuswas the forno oven which is nice to see. All the décor throughout the 2 levels has that rustic warm feeling, a lot of restaurants’ tend to overspend on cutting edge design that comes off as intimidating to a casual diner. I was given the lunch menu and my guest for lunch was given a dinner menu which was just a minor mistake im sure but it was nice to see the difference in the lunch vs. dinner with a few more additions. We shared a starter of arancini which was like a veal and mozza ball with a light tomato sauce, they were very tasty but though maybe they were supposed to come with crostini as my guest who had been before mentioned they were served with them. For our mains we decided to get two pizzas and share them, they came served on a wood board, nice fresh homemade dough and baked in that incredible forno oven, the toppings however were not that pronounced due to the small sizes. Our server on this occasion was a bit neglectful and needs to be reminded that just because you only have two tables make a lasting impression.
